The
Copper and the Cleanliness of the Pools

The
algae are microorganisms that stayed floating on the water or
even stuck to walls and accessories.
Sun
light and CO2 (Carbon dioxide), mineral salts and adequate
temperature is the cause of its growth.
The
temperature takes an important function on the type of alga.
There are typical algae for each season. Nevertheless, the
species that proliferate in summer are the most actives,
possibly due to more sunlight over the pool.
The
presence of algae in the pool cause colour, muddiness, smell and
taste in the water. Although, the presence of algae in the water
is mainly an aesthetic problem. its adhesion to the walls and
accessories generates slippery films over them, therefore there
is danger of accidents.
On
the other hand, this process increases the use of chlorine,
which acts as a protective barrier against the colonies of
bacteria.

There
are several products used to combat the growth of algae,
among them, the copper sulphate is outstanding, a small
doses is enough.
A
fragment of 0,1-2 mg per Litre of ion copper according the
case.
When
the pool is not in use, it is possible to use Copper
Sulphate at 10%, commercial product in powder, which is
introduced directly along the walls of the pool. |
Through
the years, a variety of organic algae products have been
launched to substitute the traditional Copper Sulphate, we
should bear in mind that the majority of these products have a
high demand of chlorine; therefore the excessive use of chlorine
can consume all the free chlorine of the pool.
On the other hand, this tends to form foam in the water
and filter.
