Copper and The Summer (January – February 2003)

CUPRINOTAS

Parasols have not always been enough protection against the sun. Through the years, some towns created palliatives to alleviate the effects of the sun on the skin.

The fashion of getting a tan was not approved in the old days.

Until last century,  white and pale skin was a symbol of distinction and elegance, it was an indication that those of pale skin belonged to upper class, while tanned skin was related to the poor people.

The fashion of tanned skin began in North America and Europe with holidays by the sea, due to easy access to the beaches by train.

Having a nice tan was a way of showing off a fantastic holiday in the sun.

In 1930 when swimming costumes began to get smaller, the sun tan lotion became a product of high necessity. It was first used in the Army, during the Second World War. Later on, after the war , when peace returned , Benjamin Green  used the same technology that previously he, himself had helped to create and developed a new aromatic cream with jasmine essences.

This lotion gave the skin a copper tone, therefore this product was called: Copper Tone. Have you ever been witness of harmonic distortion, power cuts,  tension oscillations, tension falls and sharp points and transitory phenomenos? These are some of the characterisitics of a bad quality Electric Energy that cause disturbances to the users. This causes short life to electrical equipment and increases the costs of industrial production.
