
It is important to create social awareness of the importance of
copper mining in the development of Peru.
The Peru is the fifth country in the world producing copper and
the second in LatinAmerican, El Perú es el quinto
productor mundial de Cobre y el segundo en Latinoamérica,
however almost all the copper´s production is exported because
ther isn´t interior consume.
The
Copper is one of the main products that the Peru tradicionally
exports, and one of the which that generate the bigger quantity
of ingresses for the country. In this way, the Copper permits:
Because
the high ingresses that generate its exprotation. During 2002 it
has been exported Copper equivalent to US$ 1187 millons, it
represents 22% of the total of peruvian tradicional exported
products. The Copper is the 2nd. peruvian product that is

Agree
with current data, the Copper generate 39,000 direct employments
and 156,000 indirect employments. (Source: MEM)
The
peruvian mining projects do, aproximately, anual purchases of
US$ 1400 millons, 71% of the which are peruvian purchases and
29% are foreign purchases.(Source: MEM)
The
minig projects allow the development of Social Programs in
Education, Health and Production that benefit to colindant areas
to their production centers (comunication roads, electric
energy, water, phone). Also, because of the pay to the Peruvian
State, works like Electric Systems, Roads and Bridges were
realized. In this way, until 2000, the minig has contributed
with the construction of 440 asphalted roads, 1800 paved roads,
950 gage, 428 km. of fera way, 2 minig ports, 45000 houses, 150
spreading centers, 250 deportive centers, 95 hotels, 50 markets,
62 churches, 65 infantile parks, installation of 50 parabolic
antennas and their stations, installation of 1500 hospital beds,
285 doctors and 900 other professionals capacited, investments
for the attention of 1200000 people per year, 275000 emergency
attentions per year, installation of 2400 classrooms with 90000
favored students, investments in training of 4000 teachers,
investement for giving electric energy to 60000 people. (Source:

The
engaged investment for the Copper projects, between 2003 -
2007, is US$ 1,458 (Source MEM – DGM). Like we said, this
investment will allow the construction of roads, houses,
classrooms, the installation of hospital beds, to give electric
energy to people.
The
work of Procobre is to create social awareness of the importance
of the Copper for the peruvians and show that, if we give
agregated value to the Copper here in the Peru, the previously
mentioned adventages, will be greater.
The
copper is peruvian, so we must give its an special attention.
