ANCIENT TIMES

Although it is assumed that the accidental discovery of native copper in Europe and Asia took place between the years 12000 and 8000 BC depending on the geographic area and the human gatherings that lived in said areas, the knowledge and use of copper is assigned to Sumerians, from whom native copper-made ornamental objects of over 6500 years old have been preserved.

Copper was used in pure state or related initially to lead and further to tin on an alloy known as bronze to manufacture weapons, coins and house utensils. Such use was so important this age is known as the Copper and Bronze Era of the History of Humanity.

Near 3000 BC, Egyptians already utilized copper on a wide variety of objects manufactured to satisfy the daily life requirements.

Likewise, alloy procedures for copper and tin were improved from which bronze was obtained. In like manner, this symbol represented eternal life for Egyptians.

It has been possible to confirm that in the year 2700 BC copper pipes were already utilized in Egypt to transport fresh water and sewage outflows.

However, copper and bronze objects that since ancient times enjoyed the highest excellence degree were created by the Chinese culture which additionally to give the copper and bronze a more useful purpose (initially) and for ceremonies (later on) it achieved its top technological development.
