STANDARDIZATION

The Permanent Committee on Electric Safety, previously coordinated by Procobre, has been appointed to the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

The following issues will be developed:

• Standardization of maneuvering and protection devices against current overloads and ground phases.
• Certification of low-tension electric installation and credentials for quality of labor.

TRAINING

750 technicians and final users were trained on the improvement of electrical installations in the fairs FERRETERA and FESTIVIVIENDA carried out last May.

The conference “Ground Connection Systems” took place on May 15 at the Third International Congress of Maintenance organized by the Peruvian Institute of Maintenance.  250 maintenance engineers attended the conference.

The course “Ground connection system and energy quality” organized with the School of Engineers of the Department Council of Junin during the Week of the Engineer was carried out on June 5.  200 persons attended the course.

The seminar “Safety and efficiency in electrical installations” took place at the Municipality of Los Olivos on June 24 and 25.  150 technicians of the self-construction sector attended the meeting.

The traveling seminar “The example starts at home” for the year 2003 is still in exhibition.  It will be extended with a workshop forum for technical discussions and technological exhibitions.  The Ministry of Energy and Mines, OSINERG, the main manufacturers of electrical supplies attend the seminar as well as authorities and concession companies of electric energy of each area.  The first forums were carried out in the cities of Trujillo and Ica, where 221 persons attended the events.

The course “Ground Connection System” was delivered as part of a collaboration agreement with OSINERG.  This course will allow supervisors and persons in charge of supervising to have a better knowledge on this subject.

Promotional training leaflet for self-construction

Everything is important in a new house, but there are several aspects that should be considered even though they are almost invisible: the electrical installations.  This leaflet provides recommendations on:

Appropriate selection of electrical wires: adequate thickness for a house is of 2.5 mm2 or 12 AWG.

Safety for the electrical installation: the installation of a ground connection system to prevent accidents.

Recommendations on the use of gas as an alternative source of energy for being less expensive and reliable. 

 

Technical Bulletin ElectroRedes 

The technical bulletin ElectroRedes is also being distributed.  It provides information on measurements of electrical parameters applied to punctual ground connections: “Determination of Soil Resistivity”.
