EDITORIAL

After eight years of challenges and achievements we celebrate our anniversary with this third annual Bulletin.  During the celebrations we had the opportunity to convey our acknowledgements to professionals and institutions fully identified with the purposes of our Institution.
Our efforts in standardization --mostly related to revision stages and public debate-- are giving results since other countries of the Andean region are already considering us.  In the training area, there has been great activity with a greater summoning capacity and the subsequent multiplier effect.  Several events have been carried out in all working areas.  It is worth highlighting Procobre’s participation in the program Munioficios from the Municipality of Lima, where training is provided to obtain job opportunities in the sanitary and electricity areas.

In addition, it is worth mentioning the award to the web page of the International Copper Association (ICA) granted by the Public Relations Society of America.
In our section Copper and Health we are presenting active copper-based products for skin care.  Likewise, we provide information on the Latin American Design Competition “The Spirit of Copper”.
Finally, we present the results of the access to Procobre Peru’s web pages and the virtual offices of the Andean Region.
Strengthening our commitment of working for the dissemination of a copper culture, we wish you a productive year 2003.

PROCOBRE PERU

Eight years of challenges and satisfactions

On October 26, Procobre Peru celebrated the 8th anniversary of working with the same energy as ever.  Our efforts to disseminate a copper culture began in Lima, and later on to other parts of the country.  Today, we may say with satisfaction that we are covering the entire Andean Region.

Other countries of the region are already developing and applying Peru’s valuable experiences.  Likewise, a significant virtual presence has been achieved through Procobre’s web pages in Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Bolivia.  We may also say that we have been the first in developing the virtual education area.
During the celebrations of December 13, 2002 greeting videos were presented from Alfonso Muñoz, President of Cables de Energia y Telecomunicaciones S.A. from Colombia and the leading copper transformation industry of the Andean Region; Jûrgen Leibrandt, Chairman of the Latin American Council from Chile; and, Francis Kane, President of the International Copper Association (ICA) from the United States.

José de los Heros, Procobre Perú`s President, and the premiated people.

Acknowledgements were conveyed to professionals such as Charles G. Preble, a great promoter of today’s Procobre Peru and who had the vision, the summoning capacity and the perseverance to look for a greater integration for copper production and transformation.

Also, Juan Enrique Rivera, who taught us how to work in the promotion area by sharing positive local and international experiences with patience and ability to stimulate institutional actions.  Finally, TECSUP, an education institution that since the early activities of Procobre Peru, developed the value of the copper promotion, understanding scopes and taking the knowledge into the institution’s classrooms with a dynamic and active style.

Procobre Premium

The award has great significance for Procobre Peru.  It combines simplicity and symbols the work carried out.  The memento is a copper disk resting on a stone base.  The central element is a copy of the copper phonograph record shipped into outer space by NASA in 1977 aboard a Voyager spacecraft.  The disk was the first element in common since Procobre Peru began promoting and disseminating information on copper applications.

The second element in common is the ”@”, which in Internet represents communication.  In order to achieve results as expected, Procobre Peru needs to establish effective communication to and proactive reactions of the target public with respect to the use of copper applications.  Finally, the third element in common is the chalcopyrite stone holding the copper record.  This is the base of our work with which the process commences.  Thanks to it, Peru and the world are benefited with the properties and qualities of copper.

COPPER AND HEALTH

Copper, evident benefits for the skin

Copper is essential for the cellular activity and the production of collagen and elastine, two skin anti-aging elements. A reknown skin care manufacturing company(*) has created a line of products with Active Copper formula, a combination of copper and pepsine that provide multiple benefits to the deepest skin layers.

Studies show that after using these creams for only 4 weeks the face visibly appears with a more firm and softer skin.

(*) Active Copper is a Neutrogena trademark.
